British singer-songwriter Eleni Drake has dropped the excellent first single from her upcoming second album, Surf The Sun. ‘Guts’ is built around her enigmatic, personable vocal performance and punctuated by energetic drums. Stylish production holds the whole thing together, as layers of delicious sound are carefully combined into a hazy accompaniment. She explains that the track “is really about when someone holds a space for you that makes you feel so full. Being able to open up to someone, share experiences with them, and they respond with such love and care for you, is such a beautiful thing.” Surf The Sun is due for release on May 19th, 2023. -Dan Peeke.
